２０１１年３月１１日に起きた東北地方太平洋沖地震以来、ホテルは慌ただしくなり、予約とキャンセルの対応に追われています。ホテルや従業員への大きな被害は特に無く、滞在中のお客様もご無事であったので安心しております。

Earthquakes hit Japan

Since the devastating earthquakes hit Japan on March 11, 2011, causing a lot like troubles, problems, and inconvenience, we have been meeting difficulties. The hotel and staff are safe with no injuries or damages at all at the moment. We are thankful for wishes from all over the world.

However, from Today on due to the earthquakes, scheduled blackouts/outages are taking place in the Kanto region including Tokyo, divided into 5 groups twice a day for 4 hours until the end of this April. Taito ward/ku in which the hotel is located is not completely in any of the groups yet but, it is likely. We are getting ready for it.

Also, with this, train schedules of Tokyo and its neighbor prefectures and areas are extremely altered. some trains are out of service. on the other hand, others are in service but slower or less than usual.

It is not always easy or fast to get to Narita airport from Keisei Ueno staion where 20 minutes on foot away from the hotel.

This year Cherry trees,Sakura in Japanese, are expected to start blooming between March 27th and 30th in Tokyo.
We can not wait for this season so now we decorate all the place with SAKURA.

This is Ueno station, closest JR station to OAK HOTEL and also Ueno Park. Ueno park is one of famous spot for SAKURA in TOKYO,

This is STARBACKS at Ueno station.
There are SAKURA late,SAKURA Frappuccino and also SAKURA cake!!

Do you think everything is expensive in Japan?
Of course we have nice fancy restaurants but also cheap restaurants as well.
Choose good cheap restaurants and save money !!!

This is a Cheap Noodle restaurant, where you can eat Soba or Udon Noodle.
Normally you can find this kind of shop around the station.

Here is the menu, cheapest one is 240yen!!!!

Do not worry about Japanese, there is normally picture on the menu.
You see the picture and put coins, press the bottom and then give the receipt to the waiter.

This is beef bowl restaurant, where you can eat beef bowl, Japanese curry rice,etc

Less than 500yen !!!

We will show you this kind of restaurant around Hotel so don't hesitate to ask any question to us!!

This is a Japanese tasteful confectionery Sakuramochi which is mainly eaten this season!!

It's a sweet pink rice cake and sweet red bean paste inside covered with a leaf of cherry blossom.

The Japanese doll Festival

Today is a Hinamaturi(Girl's day) in Japan!

The Japanese family who has a girl display Hina doll this seoson.

Tradition says that If It is displayed too early, daughter will get married and leave home soon.
If It is displayed too long after Mar 3, daughter will not get married easily.

It's a tough decision for parents especially who has only child...
Because They want to live their daughter but then They hope daughter's happy marriage..

When I'll be a father and get a doughter, I will control the timing to display this doll...

In Japan, not only cherry-blossom viewing but also pollen allergy features the spring. It is said that suddenly one starts to have an itchy nose or eye(s), or keeps sneezing. one hasn't realized that they got a symptom of pollen allergy yet. It is so strange to see many train passengers wear a mask or even a pair of plastic goggles for full protection against it, which definitely reminds other people not doing the same thing that they are sick or something. one might get this or another might not.

Kappabashi Dougu Street is located in Tokyo's Taito City, along the west side of Asakusa's main entertainment district, and just midway between Ueno and Asakusa.

Don Quijote is known as a novel written by Spanish author, although in Japan we more use Don Quixote as a famous shop name.

Don Quixote sell all kinds of goods and it gets famous because of their attractive display.

It is interesting just being in the shop :)
There is one Don Quixote near OAKHOTEL, it is about 10mins by bicycle.

UENO PARK

Today was beautiful sunny day so I went to Ueno Park, where Ueno Zoo is located and it got to be a hot spot because of Panda arrival from China yesterday.
It is not only Zoo there are Museum, Big Pond, Restaurant, Cafe, Shops and also Temples in Ueno Park. To see those spots and do walking there were many people hanging on.

You can try Swan Boat !!!

This street is known for the magnificent cherry trees! In spring time Cherry blossom all along the street bloom. That 's is amazing beautiful !!!!!
If you come to this season you should do Hanami under the tree.

Panda is coming to Ueno Zoo !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3 years ago Ueno Zoo's giant panda, Ling Ling, has died and since then we could not see them at the zoo.
Although they are coming again from China on 21st Feb!!!!!!!
Ueno Zoo is known as the first zoo in Japan which have Giant Panda so we are very happy to hear they come again.

These two are the one which join Ueno Zoo : )

Amusement Expo 2011 on 19th FEB

On this coming Saturday Amusement Expo takes place at Makuhari Messe.

You can see many kinds of Japanese latest game machine and actually try them !!!

There are also animation characters and cos players so if you like Japanese animation or manga you would enjoy it :)

Akihabara's Maid Cafe is a popular watering hole for ''OTAKU'' pilgrims.

It's a unique type of cafe, strongly related to Japanese "ANIME" culture!

In made cafes, waitresses dressed in maid costumes serve customers with special care, showing their loyalty and respect to the customers as if they were their ''Masters''.

Goodbye to Super Shuttle Bus for a while

Too bad that the only way to Narita International airport by shuttle bus is blocked. The service of Super Shuttle Bus is suspended for a while as of today.

However, there is still a way to get to the hotel.

For a Japan Rail Pass holder is Narita Express.
